Kirsten Brown

Kirsten Brown, Esq., began her professional life as a teacher in public and private schools. She then attended the University of Miami School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree, served as managing editor of the University of Miami Law Review, and received many other awards and honors. She practiced at one of Florida’s oldest and largest law firms and published numerous articles, including several on education law.

After the birth of her two boys, Ms. Brown left legal practice and opened a Learning Express Toys store in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She remained involved in education through the University of Florida Alumni Association Board of Directors and her sons’ elementary-school PTA. When her youngest son experienced separation anxiety, her friend Dr. Andrew introduced the concept of the School Fairy. After seeing her son’s fear turn to excitement, Ms. Brown suggested turning the idea into a story that could help children everywhere.

The School Fairy

Millions of school-aged children find going to school difficult because they are afraid. This fear, often called separation anxiety, can be almost as difficult for caregivers as it is for children. While separation anxiety is normal for short periods, the sooner children feel comfortable at school, the sooner they can begin learning.
