Deedra Lavon

Deedra Lavon learned very early how powerful words could be. She started writing her thoughts and feelings at the age of nine, graduating to stories at thirteen. During her attendance at the Art Institute of Atlanta, she discovered her voice and began researching historical African figures from ancient times, gravitating toward those who inspired her imagination.

“When I write, my purpose is to illuminate a deeper and much more vulnerable side of myself through my characters while telling their stories. As I continue to grow and learn, so will my characters. My hope is that those who take interest in what I write experience the beauty of intelligence, the wonders of the universe, the unification of family, the strength of true love, and the whimsical nature of the freedom to be.”
