Richard Sacks

Richard Sacks, M.D., was born in Brooklyn, New York, and now calls New Jersey and Florida home. He has practiced as an orthopedic surgeon in Toms River, New Jersey, for more than forty-three years. Dr. Sacks enjoys travel, golf, writing, and, most importantly, family time. He and his wife, Roni, have two sons, Jonathan and Eric, two daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren.

His first novel, Ijeoma: A Mother’s Journey to Save Her Daughters, was inspired by actual events. The compelling story follows a young Nigerian woman who vows to protect her daughters from the horror of female genital mutilation, which she herself endured. Her journey takes her from the small village of Achi to the teeming streets of New York City in a chronicle of courage, will, and determination.
